Come discover the beauty of life in the Sierra  la Laguna

Enjoy a day of activities in this magnificent area and come back in the afternoon to our beautiful base camp at Huerta Los Mangos where you will relax in a hammock, watch the sunset, gaze at the stars around a campfire and spend the night in a comfortable and spacious tent under avocado and mango trees.

We offer 1, 2 or 3 night base camp trips that allow you to explore the area and be immersed in this unique paradise south of La Paz.

About the Base Camp: We are based out of Huerta Los Mangos where we have a beautiful, rustic outdoor camp under large mango and avocado trees. Out camp includes an open kitchen, a self-composting toilet and solar panel electricity. 
You will have your own spacious tent and a soft pad. Just bring your own sleeping bag and a head lamp or flashlight.

Physical Activity:  Easy to Moderate
We customize itineraries according to group preferences and physical abilities. This is a great trip for kids and families, as well as solo travelers.
Cost of the trip per person:
2 days—1 night    $ 160 usd 
3 days—2 nights  $ 250 usd
4 days—3 nights  $ 340 usd

Sleeping bag rental $7 usd

All overnight trips include: Bilingual guide familiar with local flora and fauna, camping equipment (spacious, personal tent, sleeping pad), bike, meals (starting with lunch the first day and ending with lunch the last one), snacks, beverages, cocktail before dinner and all the transportation once you arrive to the area.

Not included: Transportation to and from Huerta Los Mangos (although we can help arrange this), sleeping bag and gratuity for the guide.

What to bring

2 days - 1 night


On day one, departing from Huerta los Mangos on foot, hike the Agua Caliente granite canyon at the base of the Sierra de la Laguna and discover its pristine swimming holes and waterfalls.

After a refreshing swim, hike up the canyon walls, following old paths used by local rancheros, until you reach Las Vinoramas Ranch. 

Have a delicious regional meal at the ranch in Doña Manina’s traditional kitchen.  Then return to Huerta los Mangos by bike, taking easy, downhill back roads through scenic vistas.

Optional:  Return to Huerta los Mangos by car.

After the day’s activities, enjoy the peacefulness of Huerta Los Mangos – relax in a hammock or sit by the campfire and stargaze. 


On day two, departing from Huerta Los Mangos by bike (or by car for those who prefer this option), ride on back roads through desert mixed with farm land to the San Jorge ranch. From there continue by foot on an easy hike to Santa Rita canyon. 

After a delicious regional lunch, explore Santa Rita canyon and spend the rest of the day swimming in its granite fresh water pools and natural hot springs.  Observe desert wildlife ranging from iguanas to cardinals and learn about local plants and their uses. 

Beautiful views of the sierras on the way to and from Santa Rita.  Return to Huerta los Mangos by car. 


3 days - 2 nights


Day 1 and 2 same as above


On the third day start out with a short morning bike ride exploring the peaceful town of Agua Caliente. After breakfast, travel by car to San Dionisio canyon and spend the rest of the day exploring this beautiful canyon and swimming in its granite pools of water. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Rancho El Refugio and learn to make your own tortillas.

Enjoy an easy, beautiful bike ride part of the way back to Huerta los Mangos.



4 days - 3 nights


Day 1, 2 and 3 same as above


On the last day, bike beautiful back roads from Huerta Los Mangos to La Zorra canyon, passing by small farms mixed with desert landscape. Arriving at La Zorra canyon, enjoy a short hike down to the area’s largest waterfall and take a dip in a pristine swimming hole. Have lunch at the water’s edge and then return to Huerta Los Mangos by bike or in the support vehicle.
